Electric pickup trucks are no longer a futuristic concept—they're here, and buyers now have real options. The Lightning has been around since 2022, making Ford one of the first legacy automakers to deliver a mass-market electric truck. On the other hand, the Sierra EV is a much newer entry, officially launching at the tail end of the 2024 model year, though it’s only now becoming visible on the road for 2025.
Both of these trucks pack serious hardware, with large battery packs, robust torque, high towing capacities, and an extensive array of tech features. But how do they perform when temperatures plummet? We’re heading out in mid-winter to find out how these EVs stack up in real-world conditions.
