I am always interested in learning about how work trucks are
used and here’s one I found in my neighborhood. This is a Landscape Company working
on the grounds at a local bank. The truck chassis is an Isuzu MPR, the body is
a high-sided dump style with barn doors made from lightweight aluminum. The
truck hauls an enclosed trailer. The body is outfitted with a tarp and note the 3 feet or so of sloped "Wind Deflector' and matching style side. This design should allow for carrying wood chips, tree branches, leaves and palm fronds and debris without loosing the load and creating a traffic hazard.
In speaking with the foreman for the company, this unit is
about one year old. It has been a great truck for their use. The body has
withstood daily use without showing much sign of wear and tear. They use the
trailer for carrying equipment and tools. The rear door of the trailer is a
fold down ramp enabling low, easy egress of their equipment and access to their
tools. When up in the closed position and locked, it protects the equipment
from being stolen.
Interesting that they park the truck/trailer in a “jackknifed
position”! This allows them to open one
of the barn doors so that they can access the plants and bushes without
disconnecting the trailer. An option would be if the body was furnished with a
side-opening door or gate. The body could then be accessed from the side.
